Low Pressure Over The Tennessee Valley Will Move To The East Overnight…Passing Just South Of The Mid Atlantic Region Early Sunday Morning. A Wintry Mix Across The Mid Atlantic Is Expected.

Precipitation Associated With This Low Pressure System Will Overspread The Region From Southwest To Northeast. Precipitation Will Develop Across Central Virginia Through Midnight…Then Will Expand Northeast Through The Washington Metropolitan Area By 2 AM And Then Reach The Mason Dixon Line By 4 AM.

WINDS WILL INCREASE SUBSTANTIALLY THIS EVENING AS A LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM OFF THE NEW JERSEY COAST INTENSIFIES RAPIDLY AS IT MOVES INTO THE CANADIAN MARI TIMES. SUSTAINED WINDS OF 20 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 45 MPH WILL BE COMMON TONIGHT AND LAST THROUGH TOMORROW. THE STRONGEST GUSTS ARE EXPECTED BETWEEN 10 PM TONIGHT AND 7 AM MONDAY.

A WARM FRONT OVER THE SOUTHEASTERN UNITED STATES WILL SLOWLY DRIFT NORTHWARD TOWARDS THE MID-ATLANTIC TONIGHT INTO WEDNESDAY MORNING. PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED TO DEVELOP AHEAD OF THE FRONT LATER TONIGHT AND WEDNESDAY.

PRECIPITATION WILL FALL MAINLY AS FREEZING RAIN DURING THE ADVISORY TIME FRAME… BUT MAY MIX WITH SLEET AT TIMES INITIALLY. THIS WILL CONTINUE TO BRING RAIN TO THE BALTIMORE AND WASHINGTON METROPOLITAN AREAS AS WELL AS NORTH CENTRAL VIRGINIA AND LOWER SOUTHERN MARYLAND. RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF 1 TO 3 INCHES ARE EXPECTED THROUGH THIS EVENING. THE HEAVIEST RAINFALL IS EXPECTED BEFORE MIDNIGHT. LATEST FLOOD GUIDANCE INDICATES THAT AMOUNTS OF 2 TO 3 INCHES COULD CAUSE SMALL STREAMS AND CREEKS TO OVERFLOW THEIR BANKS.
