THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN STERLING VIRGINIA HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM WARNING…WHICH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 AM EST MONDAY. THE WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT.

PERIODS OF MODERATE TO HEAVY SNOW WILL CONTINUE THIS AFTERNOON AS LOW PRESSURE BEGINS TO DEVELOP NEAR THE DELMARVA.

TOTAL SNOWFALL WILL BE 4 TO 8 INCHES BY THE TIME THE SNOW ENDS EARLY THIS EVENING…EXCEPT IN WASHINGTON DC WHERE SNOWFALL WILL BE 3 TO 6 INCHES. THERE WILL ALSO BE A CHANCE OF LIGHT FREEZING RAIN THIS EVENING UNTIL ABOUT MIDNIGHT.

TOTAL SNOWFALL WILL BE 5 TO 10 INCHES BY THE TIME THE SNOW ENDS IN MOST AREAS. ISOLATED LOCATIONS IN THE HIGHER TERRAIN WILL SEE UP TO ONE FOOT OF SNOW…SUCH AS ALONG THE BLUE RIDGE AND ALLEGHENY FRONT. THERE WILL ALSO BE A CHANCE OF LIGHT FREEZING RAIN THIS EVENING UNTIL ABOUT MIDNIGHT.
